The Currituck County community links above, listed alphabetically, and the combined community links below, listed from the Virginia / North Carolina border to the southern tip in Point Harbor at the Wright Memorial Bridge, are the same.  Brief descriptions of the combined communities are as follows:

 

Cemetery Master List  This is a combined list of all the names in each individual cemetery on this website.  The names have been sorted and listed alphabetically for your convenience and shows the cemetery number with a link to that individual's tombstone.  Although each individual cemetery index will list any "unknown" graves and/or tombstones, including what appears to be pet graves, they will not be included on the master list.

Knotts Island - Outer Banks  The northeastern most part of Currituck is a Virginia peninsula called the Outer Banks; and to the west is Knotts Island.  Both border Virgina and access to these areas are either through Virginia or by way of ferry from the community of Currituck.  It includes the communities of Knotts Island and the northern portion of the Outer Banks as well as cemeteries that are on the North Carolina / Virginia border in these areas.  It should be noted that the highly developed area of the Outer Banks is accessed from the lower part of Currituck through Dare County.  In addition Fruitville township appears on the census records and is the voting district of Knotts Island.

Gibbs Woods - Moyock  Bordering Virginia and situated to the west of Knotts Island is Gibbs Woods; and, to the west of Gibbs Woods is Moyock with US 168 being the main corridor from Virginia.  It includes Gibbs Woods and Moyock as well as cemeteries that are on the North Carolina / Virginia border in these areas.  Moyock includes from the North Carolina / Virginia state line on US 168 going south up to and including Tulls Creek Road [SR 1222].

Snowden - Sligo - Shawboro - Gregory  South of Moyock is Snowden and Sligo.  The communities of Shawboro and Gregory are to their south, bounded on the west by Camden County and on the east by the community of Maple.

Currituck - Maple - Barco  Southeast of Sligo is the community of Currituck with Maple and Barco to the south.  It includes from N. Currituck Road [SR 1241] on US 168 up to Coinjock Village Drive [SR 1416] on US 158.  It should be noted that US 168 ends at Barco and US 158 is the main corridor extending to the Wright Memorial Bridge in Point Harbor with access to Dare County and the lower portion of the Currituck Outer Banks.  The community of Currituck appears on the census records as the Courthouse District.

Coinjock - Waterlily - Aydlett  South of Barco are the communities of Coinjock with Waterlily to the east and Aydlett to the south.  It includes from Coinjock Village Drive [SR 1416] on US 158 going south up to, and including, Aydlett Road [SR 1140].  Note:  Church's Island is a part of Waterlily.  Aydlett Road [SR 1140] goes east to Narrow Shore Road [SR1137] which goes north; and, Aydlett to Poplar Branch Road [SR 1137] which goes south and extends to Grandy.  Narrow Shore is part of Aydlett and appears on the census records.

Poplar Branch - Bertha - Grandy  South of Aydlett are the communities of Poplar Branch, Bertha and Grandy.  It includes from Aydlett Road [SR 1140] on US 158 going south past Uncle Graham Road [SR 1128].  Note: Poplar Branch for the most part is a community that parallels US 158 with access from one of four roads.  They are Aydlett Road [SR 1140], NC 3 or Route 3, Barnard Road [SR 1132], and Poplar Branch Road [SR 1131].

Jarvisburg - Powells Point  South of Grandy are the communities of Jarvisburg and Powells Point.  It includes from past Uncle Graham Road [SR 1128] going south on US 158 up to Snows Lane [SR 1115].

Mamie - Spot - Harbinger - Point Harbor  South of Powells Point are the communities of Mamie, Spot, Harbinger, and Point Harbor.  It includes from Snows Lane [SR 1115] on US 158 going south to the Wright Memorial Bridge in Point Harbor.

Removal of Graves Certificates  North Carolina State  Board of Health - Removal of Graves Certificate Authority GS 65-13, SBH Form 1442, must be completed with maps attached showing disinterment and reinterment of graves.  It must be filed with the register of deeds in the county of disinterment and in the county of reinterment within 30 days after completion of the removal and reinterment.

Out of State Transit Permits  When transporting a deceased person from one state to another, this permit must accompany the remains to its destination.  These permits were filed for registration and recorded in the Book of Grave Removal Certificates by the Register of Deeds.
